While anime and game contents tourism are becoming popular , Okazaki City has been launching a “seichi-junrei" tourism campaign featuring a YouTuber named Tokai On Air since 2016. According to Okamoto (2008) , “seichi-junrei” is a visit to a location where an anime work was based on , or to a place related to the work or author , that has been recognized by the fans for its value. How is Okazaki City’s YouTube-based “seichi-junrei” different from anime tourism in Numazu City , researched by Matsuyama (2022) , and Washimiya Town , researched by Yamamura (2015)? In this research , an investigation was conducted to find out how Okazaki city residents and Tokai On Air fans actually feel about "seichi-junrei" tourism through the use of semi-structured interviews and web-based surveys. The results showed that Okazaki city’s economy , Tokai On Air , and fans are the main constituents of tourism and the benefits received by these are significant , but local residents seem removed from this structure. However , it is necessary for the planners to understand that the project is based on the principle of not inconveniencing the local residents. Without this , the project may fail , as in the case of Takehara City. |
